How to make it into the PR world

Hi everyone!

Wow, the support i got  in my first post though! Words can’t describe how genuinely happy I am. My mind was stretched even further and that’s what I've enjoyed most about your comments. I am back again and this time with useful tips which will help in conquering your PR studies.  As much as you have learned from me, honestly speaking, I did too and thank you guys for your input.

Most people are studying courses they don’t like and due to that, they end up being miserable and resulting in them failing and even dropping out. I am sure you are busy wondering why I am saying this. Well, my main aim is to emphasize the fact that when studying PR, It is very important to have passion for it. By so doing, being in seventh heaven will surely be your second name.

I've heard most people saying that if you want to make it into this industry, having a big personality is the way to go. True? Well, I certainly don’t agree because what I've noticed is that often, the loudest people do the least jobs. They talk for days and neglect their work. Those who knows me very well knows that a big personality doesn't describe me  but look where I am now. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that if you have a big personality you won’t go anywhere. In fact, to most, it’s an advantage. With that being said, when studying PR, keep in mind that it is a must to only talk when it is necessary. This is very crucial because we have to manage our reputation and credibility when studying Public Relations. http://goo.gl/9LsXbH

It’s a sad state of affairs but I have to say it anyways because I know most people who are embarrassed by studying PR. I was also one of them because I knew a lot of people would undermine me since I wasn't studying those ‘fancy’ courses as the society labels them. What I've realized is the fact that you can’t escape your own destiny and conforming to the rules of this world wasn't going to take me any further. With that note, when studying PR, it is very important to embrace it. If people don’t understand what it is all about, don’t be shy to explain. In fact, the more I've explained to people the more I've realized how blessed I was to be in this world of PR and that lead me to even discover my real purpose.

Gone are those days of only watching soapies and reality shows on television. I know at this stage you are asking yourself why I am saying this. Well, since PR deals with media, events branding and so forth therefore not knowing what’s happening around you, will certainly leave you feeling like a looser. Trust me, I've been there and that feeling is not something you’ll want to experience. It is therefore important to know exactly what is happening around you. Meaning that you have to be a citizen journalist when studying PR. http://goo.gl/uK8ZrL

Lastly, since Public Relations is all about networking with people, it is therefore very crucial to be active on all social media platforms to keep tracks of the latest trends and also know how to engage with other social media participants.  http://goo.gl/7ujfm3

Advertising is the way to go

 Hi everyone!
This is my first time blogging! I am very nervous and happy at the same time. I know it doesn’t make sense but I am sure there’s someone out there who has also experienced this indescribable feeling. Well, let me just say I am trying to console myself. I am looking forward into sharing this journey with you guys and hope all will go well.

Advertising has the power to stick into ones mind because of its consistent repetition therefore a person gets intrigued and fascinated, resulting to them finally buying the product .  Let me share this story with you, I remember back in the days when I used to force my mom to buy me sweets just because I saw them in an advertisement. I would even cry in front of people since I wanted to also ‘indulge my senses’ the way they were doing in those adverts. It is funny because I’ll always be disappointed after tasting those sweets and even think that maybe my taste buds have problems since I didn't enjoy them the way they did. Well, I know you are probably wondering why I am saying this. My main aim is to show the power of advertising in Public Relations.

Since in Public relations, it is very important to have nose for news and also be able to create buzz whereby you exercise your creativity, http://goo.gl/nkKIun  ask yourself why companies such as Vodacom and Coca-Cola are successful. There is no doubt that they believe in the power of advertising whereby they inform their existing and potential customers about their products, its benefits and also persuading them to buy the product. They also use influential celebrities such as BeyoncĂ© Knowles who was made the brand ambassador of Pepsi http://goo.gl/rPxGFS . Companies use this method to increase their sales. Take a look at Bonang Matheba “who she reigns supreme” also known as queen B, has been made the international brand ambassador of Revlon. This is to attract the audience and also draw attention more to Revlon compared to other cosmetics

I know at this stage you are probably asking yourself how they had managed to achieve all of that. There is what we call ‘market- segmentation Are you familiar with word? If not, don’t worry because it is my duty into educating you. It refers to the division of a totally different market into groups with the same needs and wants as well as behavior. Meaning that before companies advertise, they have to first identify and categorize their stakeholder’s groups (demographic, geographic, behavioral, and psychological) in order to reach their right customers and also potential customers at the right time.  That’s clever right? Yes I know. This is because different people need to be reached differently

I can now proudly and boldly say that I believe in the strong theory of advertising which assumes that advertising is capable of affecting a degree of change in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs or behavior of the target audience.   http://goo.gl/d739hy
I am saying this because advertising has persuaded me into buying a product that I have never previously purchased. This is because they made sure that it appealed to my needs and it was also relevant.
