This
is my first time blogging! I am very nervous and happy at the same time. I know
it doesn’t make sense but I am sure there’s someone out there who has also
experienced this indescribable feeling. Well, let me just say I am trying to
console myself. I am looking forward into sharing this journey with you guys
and hope all will go well.

Advertising has the power to stick into ones mind because of its consistent repetition therefore a person gets intrigued and fascinated, resulting to them finally buying the product . Let me share this story
with you, I remember back in the days when I used to force my mom to buy me
sweets just because I saw them in an advertisement. I would even cry in front
of people since I wanted to also ‘indulge my senses’ the way they were doing in
those adverts. It is funny because I’ll always be disappointed after tasting
those sweets and even think that maybe my taste buds have problems since I
didn't enjoy them the way they did. Well, I know you are probably wondering why
I am saying this. My main aim is to show the power of advertising in Public
Relations.
Since
in Public relations, it is very important to have nose for news and also be
able to create buzz whereby you exercise your creativity,http://goo.gl/nkKIun ask yourself why companies such as Vodacom
and Coca-Cola are successful. There is no doubt that they believe in the power
of advertising whereby they inform their existing and potential customers about
their products, its benefits and also persuading them to buy the product. They
also use influential celebrities such as Beyoncé Knowles who was made the brand
ambassador of Pepsi http://goo.gl/rPxGFS. Companies use this method to increase their sales. Take a
look at Bonang Matheba “who she reigns supreme” also known as queen B, has been
made the international brand ambassador of Revlon. This is to attract the
audience and also draw attention more to Revlon compared to other cosmetics

I know
at this stage you are probably asking yourself how they had managed to achieve
all of that. There is what we call ‘market-segmentation’ Are you familiar with
word? If not, don’t worry because it is my duty into educating you. It refers
to the division of a totally different market into groups with the same needs
and wants as well as behavior. Meaning that before companies advertise, they
have to first identify and categorize their stakeholder’s groups (demographic,
geographic, behavioral, and psychological) in order to reach their right customers and also potential customers at the right time. That’s clever right? Yes I know. This is because different people need to be reached differently

I
can now proudly and boldly say that I believe in the strong theory of
advertising which assumes that advertising is capable of affecting a degree of
change in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs or behavior of the target audience.http://goo.gl/d739hy
I am saying this because advertising has
persuaded me into buying a product that I have never previously purchased. This
is because they made sure that it appealed to my needs and it was also
relevant.
You have made a valid point abongile because advertising influences us even though we often not realise this. We make decisions due to what we have seen in those adverts
Wow interesting piece you have there Fifi, Advertising has became part of our every day lives, many things we buy are the result of influence of media and advertising.
Thank you very much Buhlebenkosi. I totally agree with you because advertising has made us buy products that we don't even need. This shows that it influences us in a major way
Hey Miss Nervous(smiling anointingly) don't underestimate yourself next time because remember the power of the tongue Proverbs. 6 vs 2, proverbs 18 vs 21, yes indeed as much as the tongue got tsunamis power like wise advertisement got more power n influence hence the character of the advertiser, dress code, language usage counts a lot, shortly I was just passing there. Girl you know what u know your story big up,surely I don't have doubt that your the best speaker or PRP. B blessed n have a divine mind....you have my support girls because of my Queen don't forget that.
Wow I really appreciate your advice Mr Mdluli I'l forever keep that in mind and thank you for your kind words since they have now made me learn something which I know will help me in the future. Thank you again
I like it when you say "to buy a product is how its been advertised". This indeed shows that advertising is capable of increasing sales at the brand and the product-type levels. Since PR is called an art and science, that means when coming to advertising, we have to be artistic and also make sure that audiences can relate to that advert since this proves that it is indeed a crucial factor in PR. By so doing, we will achieve our objective which is to communicate a message to gain suppoters hence improving the reputation of that brand
I agree with you on that Tsibisho and this shows that advertising indeed plays a huge role in Public Relations. This is because it will help build relationships since we will be persuaded into into buying those products. That is the reason why we also have what we call 'loyal customers'. As a result this will result in enhancing the image of that brand/company and this is where PR comes in
Totally agree advertising has a huge influence in what we buy the more convincing it is the more impact it has..how they also present the brand to us as customers helps a lot..this is a great piece of writing power to you mafiozo never ever put your self down
That's a strong point Rebone and thank you very much. I like it when you say"the more convincing it is the more impact it has" This shows that advertising is indeed effective and it is also a crucial factor in PR
I agree with you on that and I'm not afraid to say that I'm one of those people who are easily persuaded by adverts mostly which contain visuals like the video you have posted on your blog, because are easy to understand.
Thank you Walter because this again proves the importance of advertising, especially in PR. We can therefore say that it creates goodwill and also helps in brand's image in the market
wow!Great read Fiona! I totally agree with you! Advertising does persuade us to do things we thought we would never do, the advertisers know our needs and will use that to their advantage.
Thank you very much Lindiwe, glad that you and I think alike. Advertising can surely do wonders and the ultimate factor is how well you know the needs of your customers
Interesting piece on advertising. Furthermore I would have to say that, advertising really has a way of persuading and influencing people to do things they don't want to without first thinking about it.
wow I totally agree with your blog fifi because I have learned from it. I agree that advertising plays a huge part in influencing people
